- Base URL ($baseurl)
Base URL ($baseurl)
Base URL can refer to 2 things:
- The base URL configured for the whole b2evolution instance
- The base URL configured for each Collection
Base URL of b2evolution
The Base URL of your b2evolution installation is the web address you use to access the directory where b2evolution is installed on your web server.
When you type this URL into a web browser you access the default collection/blog that b2evolution is configured to show. Other collections/blogs can be accessed through other URLs (see below).
Some examples of possible base URLs are:
http://www.awesome-domain.com/
http://www.awesome-domain.com/b2evolution/
http://www.awesome-domain.com/blogs/
But your base URL depends on what you have entered during the installation or what you have configured in the _basic_config.php file. (The installer generally writes this file for you so you don’t have to).
Base URL of a collection
The Base URL of a collection/blog is the web address you use to access the front page of that collection/blog.
- When you only have one collection/blog on your b2evolution installation, then the base URL of that collection is generally the same as the base URL of b2evolution itself.
- When you have multiple collections/blogs configured on your b2evolution installation (it is the case in the demo installation), then the base URL for each collection can be configured in the URL Settings for that collection.
If possible, it is a good idea to only use URLs relative to the baseurl from your _basic_config.php file. This allows to easily restore a backup on another domain (for testing or for development). It will work immediately provided the configuration file is properly set up on each server/each domain.
Please let us know how to change or remove the Base URL? Where is it stored on the server? We thought it is stored in the database hence we deleted the database as well, but that didn’t work.
We have already moved the folder to a different location and now it is redirecting to the same old location causing following error "The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error. "
Thanks.
