When a plugin can not handle a file but contains a fallback mechanism, it will search in between the linked files to the item for any file suitable in order to retry whatever process it does. The potential files will be those whose name is exactly the same as the original one but with a different extension. They must be set to Fallback position at the Item Images & Attachments Panel as well.
