Widgets are typically used in the sidebar for all sorts of different reasons. Think of widgets as little applications you can include throughout your website to make your website more appealing and interactive. In the case of our default database, we have a Blog Title, Blog Tagline, Search, Categories, Advertisement widgets and so on to make navigation and finding content on our site easier.

But widgets can even display calendars, social media updates, weather forecasts, recent comments, and all sorts of good stuff like that!
