InMotion hosting has been providing businesses with web hosting since 2001 from their offices in Los Angeles, CA and Virginia Beach, VA. They do not outsource tech support -- all support is done from their Virgina Beach office.
They are the only host in this price range to give you the option of hosting from two geographically different data centers - one in downtown L.A. and the other just outside of Washington, DC.
Having the option to choose a datacenter near you can save you a lot of time if your business heavily relies on interacting with your website backoffice during the day.
InMotion's position is definitely oriented towards business hosting rather than personal web hosting. They offer the whole range of hosting plans from starter shared hosted plans, to virtual private servers to dedicated / managed servers.

We recently had to switch hosting companies rather quickly. I chose Inmotion after some research and reading reviews. We have been very pleased with the service and support. They have storage blocks you can buy that are very affordable, around $10 for 10 extra GB. Email communication is very efficient, they let us know when our dedicated IP was provisioned and ready with full details. Definitely recommended.

Chat Support, and Tech Support is poor, slow and doesn’t provide clear information and details as requested. I had to wait over 2 weeks and open 3 tickets to get an answer and poor solution to an issue on their end on a Dedicated Server. Once again, looking for other hosting providers…

I just has the greatest experience with on e of the inMotion employees. His name is Anthony M. This guy was FABULOUS!! He is extremely competent, patient and all the other positive adjectives associated employees. I was having lots of difficulty with transferring my email accts to inmotion - went thru several chat sessions, with little positive results. I finally used sub-group “cpanel” and got Anthony.
Everything now works as it should. This was not an easy problem, and he went way out-of-his way using logs and other info to change my zone settings to correct values. Hooray for Anthony!!

My previous host, with whom I did business for more than a decade, was purchased by a hosting conglomerate which quickly proved to be unreliable. After extensive research, I moved my hosting to InMotion. It was a great choice. The technical end of things has been great, substantially better than my previous host, no outages, and easy to use account manager and cPanel. But what has been sensational is the customer support. InMotion provides phone, chat, and email support that has answered all my questions and resolved all my issues. Approximately 18 months into my with InMotion, I have no complaints whatsoever, and I definitely recommend InMotion.

Excellent customer service. Our site was down. I contacted them and they identified the problem and brought the site up quickly and professionally. The customer service rep mentioned that some of our site was using outdated technology and could present problems in the future. I told her that I wasn’t tech savvy enough to update it. Since I’ve decided to write a review about my experience with InMotion, I thought I’d write one that would help anyone who might be considering InMotion to host their websites.
Three of my websites were hosted by another company. The company I was with was very popular, but after years of dealing with constant confusion and inconsistencies in billing, tech support, and customer service, I began my search for a new host. Introductory offers are always good to have, but I needed to know what I would have to deal with after the introductory period was over.
One of the most important things for me is customer service. I learned that InMotion’s customer service reps are available 24/7, 7 days a week…and they are all located in the US. The last rep I spoke to was in VA. I don’t know about you, but being able to talk to someone at 1:45am and not have to feel like I’m talking to someone reading a script who has no idea how to approach my problem…Wonderful!!!!
I spoke to InMotion’s tech support about the transfer of my websites and maintaining domain privacy with each of them. Everything was explained and I got the process going. I decided to keep one of my websites as-is and rebuild my other two websites. What InMotion tells you is what happens. The transfer went smoothly. My website transferred with absolutely no hiccups and I was ready to build my other two websites. What about the Account Management Panel that includes the cPanel???? Amazing!!!! I could find everything there…and I mean everything. My three domains were under one main account, so I didn’t have to log into different accounts to access a different domain. All the email addresses I created for the three domains were all in one place and I could log into them from my cPanel. One of the koolest things about InMotion is that they have documentation for everything, all of which can be found in their Support Center. Now, if you need someone to hold your hand through a process like adding reCAPTCHA to the web forms on your website, you can give them a call ANYTIME. (I actually used their reCAPTCHA document :-) But if you want to try it on your own, just do a quick search and the easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions are literally at your fingertips. Some web hosts place a lot of focus on their writing in hopes that customers don’t feel the need to call. InMotion is both clear in their written and phone communication. There’s a chat option as well, so if you have ANY sort of confusion, just give them a call or request a chat session. And after each session you can leave feedback…the option automatically pops up in your Account Management Panel. Shall I continue????…but of course… :-)
InMotion is a great web host. As I’ve said, I have three domains with them, all with domain privacy…and I will soon be adding a fourth. I’ve been with them for a year and a half, and I don’t foresee a switch. I am very loyal when it comes to products and services that deliver above and beyond what’s expected. InMotion has definitely done that. I recommend InMotion to every person who tells me they are building a website or are looking for a company to host their domain(s). And if they already have a different host, I innocently drop InMotion in their ear. :-) Soooo, should you hop on board with InMotion???? Absolutely!!!! You will not be disappointed. :-)
