Sortie de b2evolution version 0.9 le Lundi 17 Mai

Posted by fplanque on 14 Mai 2004 in Press releases

0.9: call for translations

Posted by fplanque on May 11, 2004 in Translations

Okay everyone, version 0.9 is nearly complete and the language files are now considered stable.

Now would be a good time to start translating if you want your language to be up to date in the release.

Version 0.9 is packed with new code, and that also applies to interface strings. There are 50% more strings than in 0.8! So there's no time to waste! :>>

If you wish to translate but don't know how to get the latest version from CVS, you can contact me directly.

Update: Please note there is now a second lang file for the install help files, see http://forums.b2evolution.net/viewtopic.php?t=1139

b2evolution 0.9 "Europe" on the way

Posted by fplanque on May 08, 2004 in New releases

Okay, it's been a little longer than planned, but version 0.9 should be released in less than a week from now.

Translators warm up your editors, but be warned that some strings will most probably change significantly before release. I'll notify you when the POT is stable.

Apropos translations, I have codenamed this release "Europe" as a late celebration of the new 25 countries / 450 million people wide Europe and I hope we'll have b2evo localized to all European languages asap! ;)

When you look at 0.9 now you can start to see the shape of the real thing we're moving to... and hopefully will reach soon with version 1.0.

There's been massive code refactoring again but also many kewl new features, such as:

  • Easy installing (without editing a single conf file manually).
  • Comments RSS & Atom Feeds
  • Plug-ins
  • Improved antispam
  • and a lot more that I'll tell you later... ;)

b2evolution included with YellowTip Web Server 2.0

Posted by fplanque on May 04, 2004 in Community

I got an email today from Gerhard Zielinski, CEO of YellowTip Software BV, informing me that they included b2evo in their YellowTip Web Server.

It is a free open-source package that will allow you to easily install everything you need to run b2evo locally on your Windows machine: Apache, PHP, MySQL and b2evolution. All in one step and ready to use!

As an added benefit, you also get Zend Optimizer and phpMyAdmin.

I cannot test it right now but I think this is cool enough to deserve immediate relaying on this site. Here's the press release:

YellowTip Web Server 2.0 released!

29 April 2004

The YellowTip development team proudly introduces the next major release of YellowTip Web Server, version 2.0.

The main new feature of Web Server 2.0 is the inclusion of Apache 2. Apache 2 was developed with Windows deployment in mind. As a result it's much faster and much more stable than previous Apache releases for Windows. Next to Apache 2, Web Server 2.0 includes the latest stable versions of PHP, MySQL, Zend Optimizer and phpMyAdmin.

Due to high demand, our developers have included a selection of the most popular Open Source packages with Web Server 2.0: PostNuke, phpBB, b2evolution and Gallery.

The YellowTip Web Server was developed to make available a highly professional and easily installable package of Apache2, PHP4, MySQL4, phpMyAdmin and Zend Optimizer for the Windows platform (Win2K, WinXP).

With a convenient all-in-one installer, all components are installed in a single directory and can be used immediately after the installation process has completed. An uninstaller allows you to remove the YellowTip WebServer from your computer.

Version numbering

Posted by fplanque on Apr 12, 2004 in Development

From now on, b2evolution will have no more even/odd release distinction.

It won't even have an alpha/beta/RC/final classification.

We will try to issue releases on a regular schedule, all of them being fairly functionnal. See Roadmap & Unified Process on the Wiki for more.

So there will probably be more releases as there have been last year. However it is illusory to state in advance how stable a release is going to be... unless we go through very long test cycles, which we obviously cannot afford.

Thus, the downloads page will now give extended information about each release, especially how stable it has proven to be.

You can help us with this goal, just by telling us how comfortable you feel with each new release once you have used it for a while.
