We don't really like to throw out lots of promises here. What we really like instead is to deliver!

However, since we keep getting requests for this in the forums, here's a quick rundown of what we'll be working on this summer:

• Extended plugin system;
• Support of multiple domains through a single software installation;
• Increased user isolation, for example: each user might want to use his own skins and not share them with the others. This also includes additional user and group permissions;
• Better user interface.

Of course these are only the main guidelines; there are also handfuls of little additional features under development... but I think I already made enough promises today. Gotta work on delivery now ;)

b2evolution version 0.9.0.9 has been released. Get it from here.

This release was mainly targeted at language pack updates and was codenamed "Madrid" for its included comprehensive Spanish localization -- Thanks Lucas!. Thanks also go to all other contribitors who have updated their respective locales: Lucas, Walter, Tuego, Jun, Vegar, Marius, Christina, Ron, Martin, János and the others... ;)

Of course, it was difficult to refrain from adding a few extras, so here they are:

• New default "custom" skin which I hope looks slightly better (fplanque)
• New default style for the backoffice (fplanque)
• Style switcher for the back-office (fplanque). You can add your own style into /blogs/admin, simply by naming it custom.css . The style switcher will recognize it automatically.
• Extended IIS compatibility (isaac, blueyed, fplanque)
• Weekly archives offset fixed (fplanque)
• Minor bug fixes
• Additional code documentation (fplanque). Btw, the tech doc has been updated too.
• Improved Movable Type import script (blueyed)
• Smiley toolbar is disabled by default (to re-enable it, open /plugins/toolbars/_smilies.toolbar.php and change var $display = false; to var $display = true; )

This should be the last 0.9.0.x release from the "Europe" Series. We have another branch with a load of new features under development, but it probably won't be ready for release before you come back from your summer vacation!

Remember, if you're not going to the beach, you're welcome to contribute! :)

The current version 0.9.0.8 "Oslo" is pretty stable. We will however release a new version codenamed "Madrid" shortly.

The main purpose will be to provide more language packs in the main distribution.

To all translators: please update your language files as much as possible for this release.

There are two language files to translate:

• The application messages.POT : latest version here
• The install help static.POT : latest version here

The translation howto is here. Anyone feel free to start a new translation or update one that has not been updated in a while.

For those of you updating directly on the CVS ( Ronh! ;) ), please make sure that you work on the "v-0-9" stable branch and not on the main development branch. Only changes in the "v-0-9" branch will make it into the release!

Ah yes... we might also introduce some slight cosmetic changes in this release ;) (what do you think?)

The technical documentation here has been updated to match release 0.9.0.8 "Oslo".

You should notice presentation has improved a little also.

We'll continue working on the technical doc but this is only the first step in the global documentation effort. End user documentation will follow.
Update: the dirty Wiki has started its migration to the somewhat cleaner User manual.

Later: it's been tedious XX( but everything has moved to the new User Manual. Consider the old WiKi dead!

Anyone willing to contribute a few manual pages is welcome. Translators too. Please speak up if you're willing to help! :)

b2evolution version 0.9.0.8 has been released. We have received significant help from Oslo with bug hunting for this release, hence the codename. Greetings to Terje and Marcus!

This release is focused on stability. It comes with various little but much anticipated bugfixes. Even better: never before have we put that much effort into fixing little bugs that have been spotted only in very specific situations.

So this one is probably the most stable version we have ever released. If you have been delaying your next upgrade, now may be a good time! We probably won't have something this stable for several months from now.

Most significant changes rundown:

• Upgrade procedure will fix /' and /" in older comments (fplanque)
• "(un)check all" button on permissions page (blueyed)
• New template tags for "edit post" and "edit comment" (fplanque, kiesow)

• New XHTML checker definition with extended support of XHTML 1.0 tags. Transitional by default. Strict definition provided but commented out (fplanque)

• Full compatibility with w.bloggar (fplanque)
• bugfixes... (fplanque, blueyed)
• security fixes (fplanque)
