|Download Now! b2evo 5.0.8 (7.7 MB)|
b2evolution can run on almost any web server featuring PHP & MySQL.
The standard upgrade procedure works for upgrading from any version of b2evolution to any more recent version. b2evolution's installer/upgrader will automatically detect which older version you are upgrading from.
However, minor upgrades (3rd digit upgrade as in 1.8.1 to 1.8.2) do not require any database upgrade and you should be able to upgrade just by replacing a few files. See quick upgrade patches below.
For example: upgrading from 1.9.0 to 1.9.2 only requires to replace the application files (attention: make sure to properly update your /conf files!). No database upgrade necessary. This means you can also downgrade back to 1.9.1 or 1.9.0 as easily. You would not be able to downgrade to 1.8.x, though, without restoring a database backup.
No database upgrade is necessary if you only want to upgrade from a.b.x to a.b.y, for example, from 5.0.5 to 5.0.6. You can upgrade just by replacing a few files. Just make sure you properly update your /conf files.

Note: no matter what version you have, you can always perform a regular upgrade (see above).
If you want to migrate from b2/cafelog or Movable Type, just follow the instructions in the latest release.
If you want to migrate from Geeklog or Manywhere Miniblog, first import into b2evolution 0.9.2, then upgrade to the latest version.
If you want to migrate from any other blog tool, we recommend you try to export the contents to the Movable Type export format and then use the MT importer in the latest release.
