b2evolution is an evolution of b2 which was release under the GNU GPL license. Thus b2evo has to:

1. . Be released under the GNU GPL.

2. . Include only external libraries released under a license compatible with GNU GPL.

Required technologies

b2evolution seeks to be "a blog tool like it oughta be!" In this respect we need to make it available to the largest possible scope of users.

As a matter of fact, the application server platform most commonly available at free or low cost hosting providers is PHP + mySQL. Thus, we will choose to concentrate on using this platform for the core of the application.

We also need to check that we only require commonly available versions of the required technologies. Thus, we are not requiring the latest versions of PHP or mySQL, only the current standard versions.
