Wow that’s one heck of a list!

So … uh … what about blog shortnames being longer than 12? Every time I’ve bumped into it I’ve found 15 is “what I need” but yeah at 15 someone will need 16.

Regarding the super-extended profile fields: please please please let “the admin” decide if they will be available to users. Sometimes folk just ain’t into all this webby stuff ya know? Maybe group them somehow and let ID#1 decide if groups are available or not?

Related: could there maybe be a “core plugin” that lets the admin add fields to a profile without actually writing and adding a plugin? For an install of mine I need membership numbers in a variety of orgs. Yeah I can do it, but wow it’d be way cool if you … er … “the core” did! Plus some very basic pre-web stuff: like how addresses take 5 fields (addy 1, addy 2, city, state, postal code). And birthday yah?

(better to make a way for ID#1 to ‘by the core’ add or hide fields eh?)

Hey is the “if the group doesn’t get to see settings then they don’t get to see plugin-generated tabs” issue taken care of? Looking forward to it either way! (though yeah fixing that would be much better than not…)

I was just thinking about the “core plugin” thing for what to do with a user’s profile. Everything I could possibly want to do I can do with a regular plugin right? The drawback to that is that I can’t currently access another plugin’s settings from any given plugin.

So like if I made a plugin called “mailing_address” I can’t access those fields from a plugin called “membership_roster” or some such. Something that is flat-out core material is available to all the plugins though.

Therefore would it be cool if we could do that? I mean would it be cool if plugin XX could talk to plugin YY to get some info?

Either way, looking forward to it :)

This is a great blog engine. I think b2evo is better than Wordpress in many ways as it satisfies many of my requirements. I’d be happy if you could introduce many new skins for photoblog in the upcomming release.

I’m expecting for a stable release with these new features for upgrade.

When are you going to implement the following features now common on just about every major news/blog site?

1. AJAX powered tabbed for Most Viewed articles/most comment etc see like in CNN and NYT

2. Article tools plugin all in one (Printer Friendly format, email to a friend and Social Networking site links)

3. Recommend comments by users (NYT does this, so comments can be ordered by most recommended or date order)

4. List of recent posts short title list on the side bar

a lot of new things. But I miss a right management for posts.

I know, there is one for the blogs/categories. So I can decide, who can see the post in the blog/category by the right management of groups and users.

But if I want, that only one people or one (or more) group(s) can read a post in a blog category, this is impossible. I think, it would be great to have a right management for post - so I can say, this group can read this post in this category. Like the right management in Linux for files. This would be great.

Hello, could you please insert some piece of code in the b2evo blog php scripts so that when a blog is viewed from a mobile device, e.g. from a mobile phone browser, the script automatically recognizes that the blog is viewed from a mobile browser and hence it renders the contents of
the blog in a simplified manner. It should be in such a way that it is easy yet good looking while navigating through a mobile browser.

All I want to empasize is that I want my b2evo blog a “Mobile-Ready” blog.

I think such a script is provided by www.mofuse.com where the blog rss feeds are converted into a mobile-ready blog.

Something that I’ve been looking for is a plugin that would allow me to add fields to my user table and edit them in the dashboard without having to hack the deep depths of the engine.

As far as my offline testing goes, 2.x Skins work for 3.x, however, if you want to take advantage of the new features like “Intro-” and “Featured” posts, you need to update your skin (insert a few lines of code).

But skins developed for 3.x, using the latest in 3.x skinning will not work pre-3.x, example, the Pixeled theme I ported to b2evo v3.1-alpha will require some changes for it to work for v2.x (again as far as my offline testing goes).

I prefer 3.x skinning of course :p

I am currently in the throes of choosing a blog engine. I had a look at WP, and managed to break it :D

b2evolution does impress me, but I am curious what the timeline for b2evo 3.x release is? If the beta was released in January, can I expect the final release to be ready before 2010?

And… if I install 2.4.5/2.4.6 and start blogging, will it be easy to upgrade to 3.x (given that the jump from 2 to 3 is a major change)?

3.1.0-beta will be released this week.

3.x-stable should be released before the summer. (yes 2009 ;))

Upgrade from 2.x to 3.x is a 5 minute deal. If you’re using a custom skin, you will need to add a bit of code IF and ONLY IF you want to take advantage of the new INTRO/FEATURED POST features of 3.x. (Default skins will be upgraded automatically)

For new blogs I recommend starting with 3.1.0-beta straight away. (At least that is what I would do)

WYSIWYG is part of 3.1, not 3.0.
b2evolution 3.1 will be released this week.

New to b2evolution this week but I have used DotNetNuke before, I have a photography resource site in mind which I need a blog, tutorials etc: for and this looks ideal, I will wait for the 3.1 version :p

All I need to find is the content providers after!

I just stumbled across b2evolution and find the technology interesting and useful. I will have to look into it more…

I am going to setup a demo of this as soon as I get back from vacation. I have been exclusively wordpress but I am always interested in trying different platforms.
