b2evolution 2.2.0-beta "Vegas Again" has been released.
Among many incremental improvements and fixes, version 2.2 introduces Search Engine Optimization (SEO) presets, compiled by two of the best SEOs out there: Aaron Wall (SEO Book) and Stephan Spencer (NetConcepts). Check out the SEO tab under "Blog Settings" to see how the SEO experts would optimize your blog. And you can now have it all done in one single click! ![]()
Version 2.2 also fixes a lot of small issues with 2.1 and we're now moving towards a stable 2.x release around the end of the year. Don't hold your breath though, with the new skins 2.x, upgrades are much easier than in the past. Playing with the beta will not require redoing any work when the stable comes out.

Nice job François.
Is this version so much faster or is that just atmospheric interference or oil in the copper wires? :p
I wonder when the crystal glass skin will become available for the 2.x stream, …
Cheers, Jan
Ok there. I can continue working on my converted skins :D
I skipped 2.1.0 coz of the minor bugs :p
And finally, I can upgrade my production site hehe… and use the latest stuff!!
GJ!!
Still watching with kin interest. I would have jumped into updating my site but taking a cautious approach. I did with 2.1 and ran into some bugs.
Well done
Great job! I tried your demo site, but I cannot find the “b2evo bookmarklet". Is this still there, and if so, where can I find it? I use this bookmarklet a lot, and save me a lot of time when publishing.
Regargd, Julien.

Dele: Yes 2.1 had a couple of annoying little bugs because we rushed the release a bit too much in order to have it ready for BlogWorld. 2.2 is what 2.1 should have been: almost as good as a stable release.
Julien: The bookmarklet is an optional plugin, not active by default. That’s why you don’t see it on the demo site. But it’s 2 clicks away in the release.
Thanks for the mention for my minor role in XHTML compliance, Francois!
Again, B2evolution hit the score ! a perfect and smooth update, since i have put all my custom stuff into widgets, i can now update every files without even thinking about loosing some code from the template & things like that ! Great & Superb work for all the team !!
Hi Francois, I will be looking at b2evo v2 around new years. Is there any demos of the photoblog functionality? (I looked at the demo site but could not find any). I will be hoping to port all my applicable plugins over to it by the end of january (Will there by much changes to the plugin api during that period?). Thanks. And earlier a user asked about avatars, I will be releasing my new version in about 5 minutes that uses jQuery, and this is one of the plugins I plan to move over b2evo v2. Thanks. - Ben
Julien: the bookmarklet plugin is “2 clicks away” then on the demo site, too. The demo site includes all shipped plugins (of course) and some other pre-selected plugins for installation.

Ben: There are no plans to change the plugin API for version 2.x . We may add hooks upon request but we should not be changing the existing API. Btw, the current plugin API should be roughly the same as for 1.x .
There is no demo of the photoblog functionality by now as it’s not as polished as I’d like for a demo ;) Here’s how you can get a quick idea though using the demo site:
1) create a new blog and select type “photoblog”
2) upload some pics into that blog’s media dir
3) check all those pictures and click “make posts”
…and look at the (photo)blog ;)
FP>I’m able to download now.
Just a thot process…
can you also add the Version “Title” to the Zipfile Path. I download almost all the version you keep releasing :-) and when I unzip the file, I’ve to everytime change the folder name to the version or Title.
A “Vegas Again_b2evolution…” kinda stuff :-) .
Cheers and Keep the Party Alive…

Actually, the folder is always called “b2evolution” on purpose. Otherwise, many people would use a folder name with a version number on their public websites… and that would be very bad… be it for security alone.
Wow! Radical upgrade cycle! Can’t wait for the official stable release!!!
just discovered b2evo, and i start to like it. a big competitor to dotclear and wordpress.
thanks,
Hacene (yafg = yet another french guy)
This definitely looks worth checking out. I’m going to jump into b2evo right away.
