« Novell uses b2evolutionb2evolution 0.9.2 "Sparkle" released »

Running 1.8 ...

Permalink June 21, 2006 @ 19:27, by Francois Planque • Category: b2evolution.net

So... this site is now running on b2evolution version 1.8 ...

... which will show us if this version is ready for production or not...

One thing's for sure though: it will trap all the spam! And all comments will be moderated from now on... :-/ Sorry about this, but once you let one comment spam through it gets indexed within the day and then attracts a bazillion other spammers.

Please report any issues not working on the upgraded site.

-François.

But btw: where is the Captcha thing? Or isn't it a feature of 1.8?

Congrats for getting 1.8 up and running! One minor issue though is that beneath this post it currently says '2 comments' next to 'Permalink', but thern beneath the comment heading there are actually no comments. I imagine this is because of the moderation issue.

OK

I see the comments are in moderation....

I think the counter should go up only if the comments are visible.

Since the update, the NEWS RSS feed has stopped working

Okay I hear you on the comment count. I'll fix that.

The RSS feeds should be fixed already.

Great news!

If I try to contact John at wow-factor.com, using the little envelope icon in his comment, I get a fatal error. :(

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/home/b2evo/public_html/skins/b2evo/_msgform.php'

Hmmm ... also it doesn't like my Yahoo email address?? (Correct these errors, "Invalid Email Address"?)

I don't know if it's related to the upgrade but as of yesterday I've been getting an error message when I post:
Pinging b2evolution.net...
Remote error: Invalid return payload: enable debugging to examine incoming payload (XML error: junk after document element at line 2) (2)

Done.

Okay I think the comment moderation count is fixed. You'll also see the # of comments to be moderated. (Refresh your cache/CSS)

The envelope links should be working.

I'll have to work on the pinging.

stk, please mail me (from) your yahoo email address so I can check.

Francois,

Thanks for your prompt response. Yes, the envelope link is functioning, though it still doesn't like my yahoo email.

(Sent you the offending yahoo account info in my envelope link test) ;)

I've had the same problems pinging from three different domains. Pings from one of the domains are fairly frequent, as there are many writers. It might be a good subject to use as a test if you need it: wellfed.net

I havnt yet figured why the demo has the first post in Blog A as a cross post(seen in Blog A as well as B) if cross posting is disabled. Is it there to prove something...?

Pinging is operational again.

But there is a backlog of 9300 blogs waiting to be approved, so don't get mad if you don't appear right away. Also, I feel the need to repeat this: if you're not linking back to b2evo, we won't link to you. Don't waste your time and your bandwidth: uncheck the ping b2evo box in your blog's settings. :P

Please continue to report any odd behaviour with the updated site.

Thanks for working on the pings.

I've always displayed at least one link to b2evolution in all the skins and sites I run. I love this software.

Went from the link on the front page to see the blogs list:
http://b2evolution.net/about/userblogs.php

Got an error:
"Unhandled LIMITING mode in ItemList (paged mode is obsolete)"

Hope it's not a new error!

Is there no chance of the moderating comments being optional? I don't want to have to moderate them. My sites small enough that the captcha code has stopped all spam comments.

Moderating comments is completely optional and configurable.

When will 1.8 be available for download? The single issue preventing me from using this software is the inability to moderate comments.

based on this post on the forums I'd say that it's getting closer to a release.

Looking forward to the new release Francois :)
Although I must say that I have been a happy user of the Alpha. Given the improvements since then b2evo is going to be just AWESOME!

Just thought you might like to know there is an empty span in the second line of the comment form.
It's the one that contains this: style="float:right" and no content. I can't post the code as it brings up an error "span cannot contain style" LOL.
It's the only thing that breaks validation (template problem, not coding ;) ).

I have implemented b2evolution in one of my site's sub-directory, and it is running version 0.9.11. I am hoping to skip any intermediate version, and have an instant upgrade to version 1.x, once it is out.

Good work to the development team!!
