In order to test LDAP functionality you may use the LDAP Directory Server from the Apache Directory Project.

Note: the Apache Directory Server currently doesn’t install properly on Mac OS X El Capitan.

Installing the Server

Launching the Server

Default Params

• Default port numbers: 10389 (unencrypted or StartTLS) and 10636 (SSL)
• admin DN: uid=admin,ou=system
• admin password: secret

Managing the directory.

To manage your directory server, you may use Apache Directory Studio. You can download ADStudio from here.
