b2evolution 0.9.2 "Sparkle" released

Permalink May 17, 2006 @ 22:23, by Francois Planque • Category: New releases

There we are. The latest and probably the last of the 0.9.x series is available now.

Download here.

If you are running version 0.9.1, here are the news:

  • Bug fixes
  • More spam detecting techiques
  • More locales: Basque eu_ES, Icelandic is-IS, Polish pl-PL, Estonian ee-ET, Russian ru-RU

Plus, you'll probably never get a 0.9.x update again! From now on, all efforts will go onto the new 1.8 "Phoenix" release.

Note: You still want to run 0.9.2 on heavy loaded production servers because it's still more efficient than the feature packed Phoenix releases. If you have CPU to spare on your server though, then you may want to upgrade to Phoenix in a couple of weeks.

Update: Thanks to Vee, we now have a small download available which contains only the files which have significantly changed since verison 0.9.1 (comment changes have been left out).

Forgot to say: thanks for the new release - great work on b2evo in general!

P.s. I am still willing to translate the Phoenix release into Danish. Just send me the right language files to work on!

Hey guys, I just tried to click through to this post through google[dot]com/ig (my chosen online RSS app), and was told I was referred by a known spammer? Did someone accidentally place Google as a spammer in the Antispam list?

UPDATE: looks like it, I can't even post this comment with the URL in it.

Re: the files in blogs/conf/: you want to merge, not overwrite them (at least _config.php).

The download page has been updated.

Also, the release ZIP contained two unnecessary file in the conf folder (file names enfin with _TEST.php). Those are useful for testing only. You should delete them from your install.

The updated ZIP file on SourceForge does not include these files any more.

Is there a change in the antispam features of sparkle that prevent long URLs? Or that won't allow URLs with 2 question marks?

I met the problem as below during installation:

******************************************************
MySQL error!

Field 'user_firstname' doesn't have a default value(Errno=1364)

Your query:

INSERT INTO evo_users (user_login, user_pass, user_nickname, user_email, user_ip, user_domain, user_level, user_locale, dateYMDhour, user_grp_ID) VALUES ('admin', '3d30183c51d3b6e8d401c63a0722d4bc', 'admin', 'postmaster@localhost', '127.0.0.1', 'localhost', 10, 'en-SG', '2006-05-26 17:43:56', 1)
***************************************************

I just uploaded the updated files to my server. I'm running it through Fantastico (ok I'm not a serious programmer type), and when I got a message saying I need to run an install. I tried to and got this error message:
_____________
MySQL error!
Error selecting database [b2evolution]!

Are you sure the database exists?
Are you sure there is a valid database connection?
_____________

So where should the database be located so that I can correct this problem? I really need some help on this.

Thanks!

I tried the "small install" but I was missing _timer_class.php and some antispam thing was missing as well.

Also, the comments here on 06-07 seem to be spam.

thanks for providing a 'light' upgrade for 0.9.1 too. Went like a charm, as far as I can tell as yet. Keep up the great work!

And, yeah, funnny those spamments :-)

Any version of b2evo is parralel installable with any other as long as you use different table names (table prefixes). Set this in the advanced conf file.

For those who upgraded their b2evo v0.9.1 to 0.9.2, does your b2evo admin pages display b2evo v 0.9.1 even if you already applied the small download?
