Have you tested them? According to the link-url in your post this seems to be a paid ad. This is a big problem on both b2evo and Wordpress - their host recommondations aren’t based on personal experience.

Wouldn’t be better for the credibility of this website to seperate advertising from real b2evo-news?

Of course I have tested them! (here!) We test all our web hosting partners and make sure b2evolution runs well on them before we recommend them. (We actually started partnering with different companies after we had some issue reports in the forums).

And no, this is not a paid ad. The affiliate link does track clicks & sales but Globat has not paid for me to say that I’m happy about their level of commitment about b2evolution.

So let me say it again: I wish there were more hosting companies like Globat out there, offering easy install of the latest versions of b2evolution, just a couple of days after they are released!

Now, is it really that far fetched to consider it news that a hosting company has endorsed and is fully supporting b2evolution 2.0.0-alpha just a few days after its release? Doesn’t that tell something? (And no, I haven’t paid them either for that!)

Will the upgrade from 1 to 2, be on Fantistico and will it be seamless, or will we lose stuff like templates, and plugins etc ?

Many things have been redesigned to be more powerfull and efficient in version 2. That includes skins and thus, version 1 skins cannot work in 2.x without some adjustments. (However, we have a new system in 2.1 that should significantly reduce the need for any skin upgrades in the future).

Clean 1.x plugins work on version 2. However, many plugins are more like hacks than clean plugins. So it really depends on what plugins you’re using.

Lokks good. I have a hosting plan with globat, but I’m afraid that the server uptime is not as what they claim, today, whole day I’m not able to access my site. Even their own site www.gloabt.com is not available, also the site takes too much time to upload.
