My b2evolution Version: Not Entered

I am new to this software altough I have used OSCommerce in the past so I do have a certain amount of experience.
I simply cannot put images in a post. I do not have the file button at the bottom of the write window that I have read about in other posts. My permissions on the media folder are set to 775, but I also tried 777 to no avail. I have tried different browsers. If I go to file I can upload images but if I try to "insert into post" it does not work, it will place a thumbnail in the "images and attachment window" and sometimes it will place the full size picture above the write page??? I am sure this is user error but I cannot figure it out. After 6 hrs working on this I deleted the software and Db tables and did a fresh install. It is still the same. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong?

I am setting this up for someone who won't be able to insert html and image paths so I must make this work.

Thanks for your help

When you deleted and dropped everything did you start with brand new files? The thing is if you have a crapped up file somewhere then the easiest way to find it is to DELETE all the files from the server and start with a brand new package zip from the downloads page.

*if* that is the problem eh? Won't know for sure until you rule out the files by replacing all of them and seeing if you have a problem still or not.

EdB, Yes I did a fresh install from the zip file after I deleted everything.

b2 version: b2evolution-3.3.1-stable-2009-08-08

I have exactly the same problem. Using IE6 and IE7.

When creating a new post I go down and click on the 'Add/Link files (popup)' - this opens the File Management Pop Up. I then select the image I want to appear in my post select 'Insert IMG/link to post' and press GO.

The image does not appear in the TINYMCE editing window - it appears at the top of the screen above the 'Editing post #............ : Blogname' text.

Just attemped the same action using Firefox, when the image is inserted it goes into the correct place in the editing window.

Any suggestions on how to get round the problem in IE would be greatly appreciated!

One little update.....

I decided to try something out in IE7.....

I switched to HTML editing mode and then inserted the image - html code was entered into the editing window. I then switched back to WYSIWYG mode and the image was visible in the post.

So the problem does appear to be an issue with how the File Management Pop up window sends data back to TinyMCE in WYSIWYG mode

Cheers

Does anyone have any idea on a section of code to have a look at to resovle where the the image code is inserted into the TINYMCE editing window?

I am guessing this is just a minor issue with ID's to identify pasting location.

Works fine this way.
It's one step extra, but easier to explain to a normal user...

Thanks !!!

A workaround I have found consists on selecting a couple of white spaces, because the problem occurs only when there is no selection. I haven't found the solution, but I think the problem lies somewhere between lines 4641 and 4682 of plugins/tinymce_plugin/tiny_mce/tiny_mce_src.js. If anybody has better JS skills than me, I would say that's the place to investigate.
