Yes, it's called the 'antispam blacklist' and has been a feature of b2evolution for years.

Look into the system settings > antispam.

And I've contributed several words to it :)

The antispam blacklist is of course useful but it can't cope with spam along the lines of (this is an excerpt from an actual example of one of the 62 spam comments I have received this month):

"Now, that is what is going on in the great city,hollister france. Let us look at the other side of the question."

In these cases, a regex to eliminate the comma and the word that precedes "hollister" would work, but I'm not good enough to write them quickly enough.

if you ban "hollister", it will block that comment. even if you had aaaahollisteraaaa, it would be blocked.

Searching the forum and this is the first thread that seems to apply: I am getting spam email comments with the subject line "New comment awaiting moderation on Welcome to B2evolution". I assume this is due to my signing up for these forums (so I could learn how to maintain my blog). These are not comments addressed to the blog; they appear to be addressed to me in response to some post on this forum.

Anyone else experience this? Is there a way to block these? I use Bluehost's web-mail and I don't see a way to block spam on the basis of the subject line.

I think those messages are not spam. Please, clarify from whom are you receiving them, b2evolution.net or your own site?

If the answer is your site, it's normal, assuming you are the administrator and, by default, you will receive all kind of notifications, included everytime somebody send a new comment to one of the posts published in your site.
