b2evolution 4.0.1-beta released

  October 18, 2010 @ 02:17, by fplanque • Category: New releases

We are happy to annonce that b2evolution version 4.0.1-beta has been released.

Download here »

Although it is pretty stable, we still call this version beta because there are minor bugs we are aware of and we want to fix before the final 4.0 release.

We bumped the version number up to 4.0.1 because we felt we needed to add a few little features, especially to improve the speed of spam moderation operations.

Of course, as previously announced, this version also comes with a fully functioning twitter plugin, conforming to the new twitter API.

All CMS and blog platforms suffer more and more spam entered by human users in countries of cheap labor. It is extremely hard to distinguish between a real commenter and another real commenter who has been paid to post comments to many blogs. So we might as well make it as easy and fast for us as possible to delete all that crap... This version makes moderation even faster than before with very efficient Ajax, and we already have plans for additional improvements in the next version.

Additions to v 4.0.1-beta since v 4.0.0-alpha include:

  • Better dashboard AJAX handling (@evofactory)
  • Paged comments (AJAX) in the backoffice (@evofactory)
  • Cleaner navigation for crossposted posts. You now stay in the same blog and teh page includes a "canonical tag". (If you prefered the old way, change $cross_post_nav_in_same_blog in the advanced conf file.) (@evofactory)
  • Twitter plugin now uses OAuth (requires PHP5). (@evofactory)
  • Many bug fixes...

Great job on the spam filter - definitely enjoying the newer dashboard. Can’t wait for the official 4.0!
